About Us

STEM Innovation Academy is a public charter school in Calgary serving Grades 7–12. Our high school campus, located in Calgary's University Innovation Quarter, serves 915 students in Grades 10–12 and continues to grow as one of Alberta's most in-demand STEM programs.

Required Education and Experience
  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education
  • Experience in Alberta High School English and/or Social Studies is preferred
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies
  • Exemplary, evidence-based instructional practices in high school Social Studies and/or English that lead to student success.
  • Experience, confidence, skill, knowledge, and understanding of Alberta Program of Studies and scoring criteria for provincial assessments.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Dedication to academic rigour and excellence.
  • Commitment to presenting unbiased viewpoints on world issues while encouraging critical thinking in students.
  • Capacity to differentiate instructional practices, use effective student engagement strategies, and employ outcome-based assessment and reporting.
  • Collaboration with staff team in developing innovative and effective learning experiences for students.
  • Innovator's mindset - willingness to take risks and adapt to new challenges.
  • Willingness to adapt and grow in a constantly evolving environment.
  • Competent in using online learning support tools such as MS 365 for Education, Schoology, GradeCam, etc.
