Job summary

Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education is seeking a Cafeteria Worker to manage the school cafeteria under the supervision of the principal, ensuring smooth operation and adherence to nutrition standards.

The role requires a current Food Handlers certificate and experience in food preparation, presentation, and service to students and staff. Collaboration on menu planning and pricing is expected, along with inventory, deposits, and daily cash reconciliation.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for managing the cafeteria under the supervision of the school principal.
• Maintain current Food Handlers certificate; assist with food prep and service to students and staff.
• Consult and collaborate on cafeteria business plan, weekly menu and pricing.
• Order food items and supplies; keep frequent inventory; perform daily deposits and cash reconciliation.

Qualifications and Abilities:

• Knowledge of and a willingness to build healthy menus and snacks on sound nutritional principles.
• Experience working in a school at the 9 to 12 level is preferable.
• Previous experience in a school cafeteria will be an asset.
• An educational background in the nutritional studies would be and asset

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for managing the cafeteria under the supervision of the school principal.
• Current Food Handlers certificate.
• Experience in the area of food preparation, presentation, and service to students and staff.
A willingness to consult and collaborate regarding cafeteria business plan, weekly menu and pricing.
• Ordering food items and relevant supplies.
• Keeping an inventory on a frequent basis, of all foods and supplies.
• Daily deposits.
• Cash reconciliation and sales reports.
• Preparation and serving of food, kitchen duties as required in co-ordination with the cafeteria team (stocking, cleaning, dishes, etc.)
• A willingness to be engaged in the school recycling program.
• An interest in working in a school environment.
