Job summary

Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) seeks a Pathologist with Hematopathology Fellowship to join the team at Arthur J.E. Childs Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Calgary, Alberta.

The role includes participation in a multi-site on-call rotation and collaboration with 95+ laboratory physicians and scientists. The successful candidate will provide diagnostic expertise in hematopathology, flow cytometry, and immunology, while teaching and contributing to quality assurance and provincial metrics.

Qualifications

• MD with eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta, and certification in Hematopathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology with subspecialty Fellowship training and/or Certification in Hematopathology.
• Candidates must demonstrate knowledge and competence in diagnostic flow cytometry, including the interpretation and sign-out of routine hematologic flow cytometry cases and measurable residual disease (MRD) assessments.
• Knowledge of immunology and competence in the interpretation and sign-out of immunodeficiency flow cytometry (IDEF) testing are also essential. The APL flow cytometry laboratory serves as a reference centre for immunodeficiency testing, and the successful candidate will be required to interpret and sign out IDEF cases while covering the flow cytometry service.
• Candidates must be able to demonstrate: Effective communication, quality assurance, operational efficiency and team collaboration.

• Actively participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs.
• Participate in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate medical teaching.
• Join a multi-site pathology on-call rotation.
