Job summary

A leading mobile-crane company in Winnipeg is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to inspect and repair heavy equipment. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, relevant certification, and experience with diesel engines. Responsibilities include diagnosing equipment faults and performing major repairs. Shift rotations may require travel to various locations, including Yorkton, SK.

Qualifications

  • Proven work experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
  • Understanding of computer testing technologies.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic & electrical systems.

  • Consulting with other Mechanics and Supervisor when needed.

Overview

LaPrairie Crane is one of Canada’s largest independent mobile-crane companies with fleet capabilities ranging from 5 – 600 tons, including all terrain, boom truck, carry deck, crawler, hydraulic truck, rough terrain, and tower cranes.

We are seeking applications from skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Technicians who are interested in joining our growing team in Winnipeg, MB.

Responsibilities
  • Inspecting heavy equipment for proper performance
  • Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment
  • Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts
  • Repairing damaged equipment parts
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty and automotive vehicles
  • Repairing and servicing machine attachments
  • Performing major repair work when necessary
  • Consulting with other Mechanics and Supervisor when needed
  • Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management
  • Travel to other LaPrairie Crane locations when needed and be away for extended periods of time
  • Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certification as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Apprenticeship Documentation
  • CVIP License is considered an asset
  • Proven work experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic
  • Understanding of computer testing technologies
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic & electrical systems, and construction equipment
  • Good communication skills

This role may include shift rotations, including to Yorkton, SK and other LaPrairie Crane locations, for periods up to 6 months or longer depending on business needs.
