Job summary

North American Construction Group (NACG) seeks Finish Dozer Operators for a remote mining site in the Fort McMurray area. Site: Syncrude-Aurora. Schedule: 14x7 or 10x4, 12-hour days. Camp not provided; buses run from Fort McMurray to site. Overtime after 8 hours/day or 44 hours/week. Must join IUOE Local 955.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience as Finish Dozer Operator on civil projects.
• Ability to execute high-tolerance construction with final grade.
• Experience operating D3–D8 sized Dozers or larger.
• Experience on muskeg/soft & wet ground.
• Experience building roads/corridors.
• Experience backfilling pipes/trenches.
• Mining atmosphere experience preferred.
• Able to follow safety instructions for equipment operation.
• Safety-first attitude and strong listening skills.
• English proficiency (written and spoken).
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Operate various sizes and models of Dozer as required to complete assigned work.
• Read stakes and place grade as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Use appropriate PPE and safe equipment.
• Review safe work plans and hazard assessments before job start.
• Perform equipment area walks, safety checks, and risk assessments.
• Report repairs to maintenance or supervisors immediately.
• Report incidents or near misses promptly.

NACG is looking for Finish Dozer Operators to work on a remote mining site in the Fort McMurray area. You must be well-organized and favor safety above everything else.

Site: Syncrude-Aurora

Schedule: 14x7 OR 10x4 - 12 hours (paid for 12 hours) Days only

Accommodations: Camp not provided

Transportation: Bussing provided from Fort McMurray to site (before and after shifts)

Overtime: Provided after 8 hours a day or 44 hours a week

The successful candidatewill be required to join the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955.

  • Operate various sizes and models of Dozer as required to complete assigned work
  • Read stakes and be able to place a grade as needed
  • Ensure compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies, operating standards and procedures
  • Using adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE
  • Reviewing safe work plans/ hazard assessment with prior to job commencement and follow all requirements
  • Complete equipment/ area walk-arounds, safety checks and field level risk assessments and ensure all equipment is running properly
  • Report any necessary or anticipated repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors immediately
  • Report all incidents, near misses or damage immediately.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience working as a Finish Dozer Operator on a civil type project.
• Ability to execute a high tolerance construction scope with final grade
• Previous experience operating D3 to D8 sized Dozer or larger
• Previous experience operating with muskeg / soft & wet ground required
• Previous experience building roads / corridors
• Previous experience backfilling pipe/trenches
• Previous experience sloping/spotting trucks
• Minimum one year experience in a mining atmosphere preferred
• Must be able to follow instructions to ensure safe equipment operation
• A safety-first attitude
• Attentive and possess strong listening skills
• High school diploma, GED, and/or post-secondary education is considered an asset
• Must be proficient in English, both verbal and written
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License

• Subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
• Undergo and successfully pass the following testing:
• Breath Alcohol Test
• Urine Drug Test
• Fitness-to-Work Assessment
• Audiometric Testing
• Vision Screening
• Criminal Record Check

Shift, site, and start times are subject to change.

All successful candidates MUST provide the following items prior to confirmation of their start date:

• CSO or BSO, Field Ergonomics, Silica Awareness, Hydrogen Sulfuide Awareness, OHS, Wood Buffalo Wildelife Awareness Certifications
• Copy of Valid Class 5 Driver's License
• Copy of recent Driver's Abstract
• VOID cheque/direct deposit form

Once dispatched the following processes will occur:

• Will receive a call from NACG to set up all required pre-employment testing
• An email will be sent with all required New Hire Paperwork to be filled out
• After all results are received by NACG candidates will be contacted by Site Admin to schedule orientation and confirm your start date and other site specific details.
