Due to growth, ALPA Equipment Ltd. is currently seeking a dynamic, motivated, and driven individual to join our service team!

This posting is for a Shop Mechanic/Field Technician at our Truro, NS location.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Under the supervision of the Service Manager, the Shop Mechanic/Field Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing forestry, agriculture, and construction equipment, working both at the company shop and at various work sites.

Specific Responsibilities
  1. Work at the company shop and travel to work sites to perform maintenance or repairs to equipment.
  2. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair forestry and construction equipment using electronic diagnostic tools and calibration devices.
  3. Test parts and systems to ensure proper functioning.
  4. Follow checklists to ensure all critical parts are examined.
  5. Test and lubricate the vehicle’s engine and other major components.
  6. Perform basic care and maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups.
  7. Use testing equipment to ensure repairs and maintenance are effective.
  8. Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  9. Repair or replace worn parts.
  10. Disassemble and reassemble parts.
  11. Make recommendations for future repairs or maintenance requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma and enrollment or completion of a mechanic journeyman certification program.
  • Computer skills.
  • Other combinations of work/education may be considered.
  • Sound mechanical knowledge.
  • Millwright experience is an asset.
  • Ability to work in an environment of changing priorities.
  • Ability to work 40+ hours per week.
  • Bilingual (French/English).
