Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Canada seeks a Heavy Duty Mechanic to keep our fleet safe and reliable. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose and repair vehicles and equipment, and work with minimal supervision to keep operations moving efficiently.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience, a valid 421A certification, and strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, brake, and cooling systems. Join a modern shop environment with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Valid 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Certification registered in the Skilled Trades of Canada.
Minimum 2 years of experience in automotive, truck, or heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
Ability to read hydraulic schematics and diagnose equipment faults.
Working knowledge of fuel, ignition, cooling, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and air brake systems.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems using vehicle computer electronics.
Complete repairs within Standard Repair Times and document repairs accurately.
Review DVIRs and plan parts requisition and repairs.
Maintain a clean, organized work area following OSHA standards.
Assist in orienting and training apprentices and communicate maintenance needs to operations.
