Job summary

Sunbelt Rentals is hiring a Heavy Duty Mechanic - Level 2 in Toronto, ON. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on a broad range of equipment, including aerial lifts and construction tools, while upholding safety standards.

We value hands-on experience with diesel equipment, hydraulic and electrical systems, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a busy shop. Training and partnership with a supportive team are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; trade training preferred.
• 2–5 years of mechanic experience with diesel/heavy equipment is strongly preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across hydraulic and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on equipment.

Sunbelt Rentals - the fastest growing rental business in North America - is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic - Level 2.

The Heavy Duty Mechanic - Level 2 role performs preventive maintenance, performs diagnostics and makes repairs on equipment in the safest, most effective way possible to avoid downtime. Our fleet varies by location but primarily includes Aerial Work Platforms, general construction tools and equipment.

Education or experience that prepares you for success:

• High school diploma or GED required, some trade school or equivalent training desired
• 2 to 5 years of mechanic experience with similar diesel equipment and/or heavy equipment (ex: boom lifts, scissor lifts, aerial equipment, etc.) strongly preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities you may rely on:

• May need to provide mechanic's tools of the trade.
• Advanced knowledge of hydraulic systems & troubleshooting skills
• Advanced knowledge of electrical systems & troubleshooting skills
• Ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The physical demands of this role require bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors/outdoors when required by the job.
