Job summary

Teck Resources Limited is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic for Highland Valley Copper in Logan Lake, BC. This on‑site role supports uptime of mining equipment and contributes to a safety‑first work culture.

You should have a Red Seal certification, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to learn with transferable skills from mining or heavy equipment environments. Competitive benefits and a relocation support package are included.

Qualifications

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Certification as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Truck & Transport Mechanic.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Experience with mining or heavy off-road equipment is an asset but transferable skills welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair mobile mining equipment: haul trucks, loaders, graders, dozers, and shovels.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues in a dynamic, safety‑driven environment.
  • Disassemble, inspect, and rebuild engines, transmissions, and cooling systems.
  • Collaborate within a safety‑first, high‑performance team to drive safety and efficiency.
  • Promote Teck safety culture in daily operations.

About Highland Valley Copper

Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operationsis Canada’s largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.

Located approximately 17 kilometers west of Logan Lake and about 50 kilometers southwest of Kamloops in British Columbia, the surrounding areas of HVC have an abundant offering of outdoor experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair advanced mobile mining equipment: haul trucks (including autonomous CAT trucks), loaders, graders, dozers, and shovels

Hourly Wage: $56.61 / hour

Working Conditions:

  • Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
  • Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.
  • Shift: This position requires a 4x4 rotation consisting of two 12-hour days, a 24-hour turnaround, followed by two 12-hour nights and then four days off.
