Job summary

Boart Longyear is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Saskatoon, SK team. You will diagnose faults, repair equipment, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

The role requires a Red Seal trade certification, 5–10 years of experience, willingness to travel, and the ability to work outdoors or in a shop. We offer competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits program.

Qualifications

  • Trade Certification (Red Seal) and completion of apprenticeship.
  • 5–10 years of experience in the trade.
  • Valid driver’s license; abstract required on hire.
  • Willing to travel as required.
  • Willing to work outside and/or in a shop environment.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Local to the Saskatoon area or willing to relocate.
  • Basic Safety Orientation is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Check for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine extent of repair required.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets regulatory specifications.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
  • Perform repair work on all Boart Longyear drilling equipment.
  • May service specialty attachments or components and maintain, adjust and repair such items.
  • Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed.
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other departments.
  • Requisition parts, materials, and supplies.
  • Resolve work problems and recommend work measures to improve productivity.

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Boart Longyear team in Saskatoon, SK.

Hourly Wage: $35.53 - $45.44/hr

Responsibilities
  • Check for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
