Job summary

United Rentals is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic - Service Tech IV in Canada to perform maintenance and repair on complex equipment with limited supervision. You will contribute to a safe, high-quality service culture and may train junior technicians while supporting customers at their sites.

The role offers opportunities for leadership progression in the Service Department and emphasizes exceptional customer service across a wide range of equipment and tools.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience repairing and maintaining equipment, vehicles, or mechanical systems.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
• Apprentices who have completed Block 2 or Block 3 training are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on rental and customer equipment.
• Travel to customer sites for repair/maintenance; keep service vehicle clean and professional.
• Assist in training lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic records of work orders daily.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Other duties as needed.

As a Diesel Mechanic - Experienced (Service Tech IV), you’ll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs of complex equipment with limited or no supervision in a highly skilled, safe, and professional manner. What you'll do:

• Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment
• When required, travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• 5+ years of experience repairing and maintaining equipment, vehicles, or mechanical systems
• Heavy Equipment, Truck and Coach, Automotive, or related trade experience considered an asset
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
• Extensive knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams
• Must own tools applicable to position
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
