Job summary

LaPrairie Works Inc. is hiring an experienced Heavy-Duty Mechanic to inspect, service, and maintain our fleet of on-road and off-road equipment in Slave Lake, Alberta. Apprentices are encouraged to apply and join a team focused on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate has experience with diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, and can troubleshoot effectively. Class 5 license is required; CVIP is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification as Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Apprenticeship is required or encouraged.
• Proven work experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
• Understanding of computer testing technologies.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic & electrical systems.
• Class 5 driver’s license at minimum; CVIP license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment for proper performance in a fleet environment.
• Diagnose faults using computerized testing equipment.
• Adjust equipment and replace faulty parts and components.
• Repair damaged equipment parts and conduct routine services.
• Maintain cleanliness, lubrication, and servicing of machinery.

We are looking to hire an experienced Heavy-Duty Mechanic to inspect, service, and maintain our fleet of heavy-duty on road and off-road equipment in Slave Lake, Alberta. Apprentices are encouraged to apply.

To ensure success as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic, you should have proven experience working on off-road and on road equipment, be physically fit, and be able to troubleshoot issues at hand. Ultimately, a top-notch Heavy Duty Mechanic can repair and service even the biggest machinery with expert care.

Responsibilities:

• Inspecting trucks, trailers, and other heavy equipment, in a fleet environment, for proper performance
• Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment
• Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts
• Repairing damaged equipment parts
• Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty and automotive vehicles
• Repairing and servicing machine attachments
• Performing major repair work when necessary
• Consulting with other Mechanics and Supervisor when needed
• Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management
• Actively participate in the compliance of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Assurance System
• Performs other duties as required

Desired skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Certification as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Apprenticeship Documentation
• Proven work experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic
• Understanding of computer testing technologies
• Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic & electrical systems, and construction equipment
• Must have a Class 5 driver’s license at minimum
• CVIP license preferred
• Ability to work after-hours if required
• Good communication skills
