Position Summary

Heavy Duty Mechanics are responsible for ensuring that all IDL’s equipment and specialty tools (such as: articulating rock trucks, backhoes, dozers, excavators, graders, loaders, generators etc.) are maintained and in good working condition. We are looking for skilled technicians who have the ability to work independently and as part of our great team. We currently have full-time and rotational positions available.

Location

IDL Project’s head office is located in Prince George, British Columbia with satellite offices in Prince Rupert, Vancouver and Vancouver Island.

Out-of-town work is a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnosis, repair and maintenance of the company's heavy equipment fleet and specialty tools including but not limited to:
    • earth moving equipment
    • internal combustion engines and components, mobile and stationary
    • ground engaging equipment
    • tracked equipment
  • Responsible to ensure all work is completed in a safe manner
  • Perform work in either a field or shop setting
  • Mentor apprentices as needed
  • May perform other duties as required
Qualifications
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ field experience and
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in heavy civil construction
  • Have a strong/technical and mechanical aptitude
  • Certified Heavy Duty Mechanic/Interprovincial Red Seal Certification
  • Experience working with CAT, Hitachi or John Deere heavy construction equipment. Preference is given to anyone who has experience working on all makes
  • Must have a valid class 5 (or better ) driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies
  • Ability to work cooperatively independently and with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment
