Waste Connections of Canada has an immediate opening for a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic and Apprentices (1st to 4th year) to join our team in Lethbridge, AB to work on a fleet of garbage trucks. Safety is key in our business and our mechanics play a crucial role in maintaining both personal and equipment safety. The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining WCC heavy trucks & heavy equipment in safe working order. The Heavy Duty Mechanic will ensure that all equipment meets all government regulations and standards for safety, as well as WCC safety standards.

Location: 703 32nd Street North | Lethbridge T1H 5H5

What we offer:

  • $25.00 to $32.00 per hour (Apprentice to Fully Licensed)

Requirements:

  • Red Seal License or 4th Year Apprenticeship for Heavy Duty Mechanic.
  • 3-4 years of experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic.
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment tests.
  • A minimum of Full Class 5 driver's license.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and repair Garbage Trucks, support vehicles, and post-collection off-road equipment in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner.
  • Ensure that all equipment and systems are operational by conducting inspections and completing related repairs to ensure vehicle uptime is maintained.
  • Maintain accurate work orders and parts charge outs using an electronic work order system.
  • Complete all safety checks and record all tire and brake measurements in the database.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Work independently as well as under the direction of the senior mechanics and lead hands.
  • Learn and service all post-collection processing equipment and perform facility work as needed.
