Job summary

Dawson Group is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic in Kamloops, BC. The role involves maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on trucks and equipment, with a base location in Knutsford and potential travel across the province.

The position is full-time, temporary, reporting to the Superintendent, Mechanical, and requires a safety-conscious, production-oriented technician capable of handling diagnostic work and repairs. Candidates with Red Seal certification are an asset.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic with Red Seal preferred.
  • Valid BC Driver's License (Class 5; Class 3 with Air asset).
  • Welding experience is an asset.
  • Able to perform heavy physical duties.
  • Safety-focused and reliable under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Safely perform equipment inspections, diagnostics, and repairs.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
  • Liaise with management to coordinate repairs.
  • Strive for high-quality workmanship and efficiency.
  • Conduct daily bay inspections for cleanliness and safety.
  • Work as part of a team to complete tasks.

Heavy Duty Mechanic

Kamloops, BC $28.18-$43.35/hour

Dawson Construction is looking for a Heavy Duty Mechanic who can perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of vehicles, ensuring top-notch quality and safety.

In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Construction, working in a temporary, full-time position of Heavy Duty Mechanic, reporting to the Superintendent, Mechanical. This position requires a skilled and experienced technician; one who is safety-conscious, production oriented, and self-motivated to perform diagnostic and repair work on a variety of trucks and equipment. Your base location will be Knutsford, B.C. and may require some travel throughout our great province.

What Success Looks Like
  • Safely perform accurate and complete equipment inspections, diagnostics, and repairs
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures
  • Prioritize a safe working environment
  • Liaise with management to ensure a smooth flow of communication during repairs or maintenance work
  • Always strive to exceed industry standard by providing quality workmanship
  • Perform daily bay inspections to ensure shop neatness/cleanliness, and safety
  • Work closely as a team to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently
  • Effectively work in all weather conditions and have the flexibility to work shift work if necessary
What You Bring
  • Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic and Red Seal Certification an asset
  • Clean B.C Driver’s License, minimum Class 5. Class 3 with Air is an asset
  • Welding experience is an asset
  • Capable of performing heavy physical duties
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Prioritizes safety of self and team
