Job summary

Compass Group Canada in Toronto is seeking a Heavy Duty Cleaner to maintain high standards of cleanliness across hard floor areas, washrooms, and common spaces. You will perform floor care, remove waste, and support safety and hygiene initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires prior cleaning experience, ability to follow detailed instructions, and the stamina to work independently while multitasking and meeting tight schedules. Training and PPE are provided.

Responsibilities

• Dry mop, wet mop and polish hard surface floors.
• Strip and finish hard surface floors manually or with power equipment.
• Transport garbage to bins/compactor and clean the compactor regularly.
• Move maintenance machinery between floors and job sites.
• Clean glass areas requiring ladders or extension equipment.
• Clean washroom floors and fixtures.
• Clean stairwells and elevator cabs as needed.
• Wash walls, ceilings and dust fixtures.
• Restock soap, towels and toilet tissue.
• Shovel snow or clear walkways to maintain safe access.

How you will make an impact:

You will be responsible for heavy cleaning work including the cleaning of all hard floor surfaces, the cleaning of all surfaces that must be reached by ladder or scaffolding and the collection and removal of garbage from drop points to a garbage bin or compactor.

As a Heavy Duty Cleaner, you will:

• Dry mop, wet mop (wash/scrub) and polish hard surface floors. The washing/scrubbing of floors is done with handheld or walk-behind buffing machines.
• Strip and finish hard surface floors manually or with power equipment when required
• Transport garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactor; operate the compactor and be responsible for cleaning the compactor on regular basis
• Transport maintenance machinery, where necessary, between floors and job sites
• Clean glass areas requiring ladders, scaffolding or other extension equipment to reach
• Clean washroom floors including washing, stripping, and finishing
• Clean stairwells and elevator cabs where ladders are required
• Wash walls, ceilings and dust ceiling light fixtures and ceiling fans
• Use pile lifting equipment to restore certain types of carpet
• Shampoo broadloom and uses extracting equipment to clean broadloom
• Comply with H&S regulations and company policies
• Complete tasks assigned to you by your supervisor
• Restock single unit dispensers containing soap, towels, toilet tissue and sanitary napkins
• Keep entrances and walkways clear of snow through manual shoveling or the use of a snow blower when required, to maintain safe access during the winter season.
