Job summary

GDI Services (Canada) LP is seeking a dedicated full-time janitor to maintain cleanliness of floors, washrooms, offices and common areas across our facilities. The role includes night shifts: Sun, Mon, Thurs, Fri, Sat from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am in the Toronto area.

You will operate cleaning tools and equipment, collect trash, restock supplies, perform routine floor care, and report defects to supervision. A reliable vehicle and punctuality are required to support daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors and stairs in buildings
• Strip and wax floors; steam clean carpets as requested
• Wash windowsills and interior/exterior glass as needed
• Clean bathrooms and restock supplies daily
• Collect and dispose of trash; replace liners
• Monitor for defects (lights, urinals) and report to supervisor

General Description: A janitor is generally responsible for the cleaning of all hard floor surfaces and carpets, washrooms, common areas, offices, and the collection and removal of garbage from drop points to a garbage bin. Other responsibilities could be included.

Schedule: Full Time 5 days a week Sun, Mon, Thurs, Fri, Sat, 10:00 pm - 6:00 am

Responsibilities:

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors, stairs and other surfaces (inside buildings).
• Stripping and waxing, steam cleaning carpets and cleaning windows - on request only
• Wash windowsills; glass in interior doors, partition, and specified windows.
• Wash glass and trim at entrance doors, interior/exterior- Wash/spot clean interior walls as appropriate daily.
• Clean bathrooms and restock paper supplies daily. Standard bathroom procedures are to damp wipe glass surfaces, empty waste baskets, service soap and toilet paper dispensers, dust sills, clean tile walls, shelves, stall partitions, sweep/mop/scrub floors, etc.
• Assist the supervisor with any other assistance that requires help from the employee.
• Monitors possible defects such as clogged urinals and lights out, and reports to supervisors.

There will be showers, they will have to go between the two buildings (they are across the street from each other).

• Collect building trash daily placing it in approved container and place in designated collection area for subsequent removal.
• Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers per specs.
• High dusting, wall washing compactors, lifting up to 50lbs, using heavy duty machines, changing garbage.

Requirements:

• Must be able to take direction, to work with minimal supervision, and to function cooperatively as part of a team
• Ability to use cleaning tools and equipment.
• Must have own transportation
• Requires attention to detail, a pride in delivering excellent service, organization, and high levels of energy and endurance.

Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check.
