Job summary

Stephenson’s Rental Services in Ottawa, Ontario, is seeking a Heat Service Road Technician to service on-site heating equipment and keep our fleet rental-ready. You will diagnose, test, and repair natural gas, propane, and electric heaters, perform maintenance, and share product knowledge with customers to explain features and safety practices.

The role requires a minimum 1 year of experience with heating or related equipment, a valid G Class driver's license with a clean abstract, and

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years of age.
• G Class Driver’s License with clean driver's abstract.
• Heavy equipment trades or G2 Gas certification is a strong asset.
• Minimum 1 year of experience servicing heating equipment or related gear; apprentices welcome.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing, testing, and repairing on-site natural gas, propane, and electric heaters and air conditioners.
• Providing on-site maintenance services including oil changes and filter changes.
• Transfer product knowledge to customers, explaining features and safety practices.
• Ensure consistent customer treatment and resolve issues as they arise.
• Maintain paperwork and service records for Rental Management system.
• Follow checklists and refer to manuals and schematics when repairing.
• Maintain inventory control documents and operate equipment under test conditions.
• Adhere to Company Safety Policies and wear PPE.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

How you’ll contribute

As one of our Heat Service Road Technician, you’ll play a key role in servicing our on-site Heating Equipment and keeping our fleet rental ready through:

• Diagnosing, testing, and repairing on-site natural gas, propane, and electric industrial heaters and air conditioners.
• Providing on-site maintenance services including oil changes, filter changes, light replacements, etc.
• Possessing excellent product knowledge and effectively transferring this knowledge to customers. This includes explaining features and benefits, safe operating techniques and promoting related accessories/products.
• Ensuring that every customer is treated in the same fair and consistent manner and resolving issues as they arise.
• Assisting in making decisions related to equipment retirement
• Completing all work orders and related paperwork with respect to the service of equipment in order to preserve the integrity of our Rental Management computer system.
• Following the appropriate checklists and procedures including reading and referring to owner’s manuals and schematics when repairing equipment.
• Maintaining inventory control documents to preserve the integrity of our Rental Management system.
• Operating and testing equipment and, where possible, under actual operating conditions.
• Adhering to and promoting our Company Safety Policies, including wearing required PPE
• Completing other duties as assigned

What we’re looking for

• Minimum 21 years of age
• G Class Driver’s License with clean drivers abstract (valid within the last 90 days)
• High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required
• Heavy Equipment trades and/or G2 Gas certification is a strong asset
• Minimum 1 year of experience servicing heating equipment, construction equipment or experience in a similar background. Apprentices welcome!
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge and/or experience with diesel & gas fuel engines and electric/hydraulic systems
