Position Details

Position: Dispatcher
Site: Halifax Infirmary; Victoria General Hospital
Hours: 8am - 4pm; 4pm - midnight
Payrate: $20.50/hour

Key Responsibilities
  • As the Dispatcher is the first line of contact for our clients, they must handle all calls in a professional and calm demeanor, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain a good rapport with all Paladin Employees and management staff, while being cognizant of the confidential information that must be handled and maintained by this position.
  • Dispatch alarm response calls effectively, concisely, and within designated time frames.
  • Respond to alarms in a timely manner while ensuring all account instructions are followed correctly.
  • Accurately update alarm accounts
  • Creation of hospital ID cards
  • Complete any other tasks given by the Shift Supervisor/Site Supervisor
Prerequisites
  • Ability to lead, plan, organize, delegate and problem solve.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Computer knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast paced and stressful environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism in all situations.
  • Ability to prioritize based on severity of the call.
  • Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in dispatching, or a related field preferred.
