Job summary

A regional health authority in Manitoba is looking for a Food Service Worker to prepare and deliver quality food services to patients while adhering to safety and procedural standards. Candidates should have at least one year of food service experience, a Food Handler Training certificate, and the ability to work within a culturally diverse environment. This position requires attention to detail, efficiency, and effective communication with staff and patients. A valid Class 5 driver's license is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one (1) year full time health care food service experience or institutional cooking experience.
  • Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license and an all‐purpose insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and cook food for patients/residents in a health care setting.
  • Maintain an organized work environment and follow safety principles.
  • Manage cash and demonstrate problem-solving abilities.

Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Outlook/email
Knowledge of therapeutic and modified food textures
Knowledge of sanitary food handling principles and procedures
Demonstrated ability to work efficiently
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
Ability to respect confidentiality
Good work and attendance record

Education

Grade 12 education or equivalent
Current Food Handler Training certificate Level 1 or equivalent
