Qualifications

  • Three years’ experience as a fire safety officer in an institutional setting.
  • Five years’ experience as a fire inspector preferred in healthcare settings.
  • Ability to interpret the Manitoba Fire Code and NFPA Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with fire safety standards.
  • Develop training programs related to fire safety and building inspections.
  • Respond to emergencies and advise on risk management.

Skills

Knowledge of building inspection techniques/methods
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of Windows based software
Training in computer aided drafting (CAD Level 1)
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage conflict and exercise good judgement

Education

Complete high school education, Manitoba standards
Certification through the Manitoba Fire College in Fire Inspection
Certification as a Fire and Life Safety Educator
Training in mechanical, electrical or safety engineering technology
