Healthcare Assistant – Band 3, Main Theatres.

Department: Main Theatres
Salary: Dependent on experience
Contract Type: Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Rota‑based early/late shifts, Monday to Sunday

Role Overview

As a Theatre Healthcare Assistant, you will support patients and the surgical team throughout each procedure. You will help prepare theatres, assist patients before and after surgery, and work alongside nurses and ODPs to ensure safe, seamless and compassionate care is delivered at every stage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the theatre team with safe preparation and turnover of operating rooms.
  • Assist patients with personal care and provide reassurance before and after procedures.
  • Maintain stock levels, prepare equipment and uphold infection control standards.
  • Escort patients to and from theatres, liaising with wards and recovery areas.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to promote patient dignity, privacy and safety.
Skills and Experience
  • Experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a hospital setting is essential, ideally within surgical wards or theatres.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Compassionate, proactive and committed to delivering the highest standards of care.
  • Willingness to develop skills through ongoing training and professional development.
