Job summary

Verve Senior Living is seeking a Health and Wellness Care Aide/PSW to support residents in our Regina residence. This role delivers individualized care per care plans, adheres to infection control standards, and participates in life enrichment activities while maintaining accurate health records.

The ideal candidate holds a Health Care Aide or PSW certificate, with preferred medication management certification, and must have Grade 12. English fluency is required.

Qualifications

• Requires Health Care Aide or Personal Support Worker certificate.
• Medication management certification is desirable.
• First Aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling, WHMIS and related trainings must be obtained or maintained.
• Grade 12 completion required.

Responsibilities

• Provides care to residents including cognitive, social and emotional support, according to their plan of care and in a manner that promotes comfort and safety.
• Performs nursing care procedures in accordance with the standards of resident care. Follows routine practices in all aspects of care and complies with infection control protocols.
• Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, reports incidents and changes to resident life, and participates in trainings and drills.
• Completes all required mandatory training/education.
• Assists in delivering Life Enrichment programs and activities.
• Completes nursing documentation accurately and legibly, maintains health records in compliance with legislation.
• Assists in monitoring and evaluating outcomes of interventions and suggests improvements.
• Performs other tasks as delegated by LPN/Health and Wellness Manager or General Manager.

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE

Under the direction of the Health and Wellness Manager, participates in the delivery of care to residents. Delivers care to residents based on individualized care plan, policies and procedures, and established standards of care.

BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS

Has obtained a certificate from an approved Health Care Aide or Personal Support Worker program.

Acertificate in medication management is desirable and on-site medication administration training is required.

Must have or are prepared to get and maintain relevant training in First Aid and CPR, Safe Food Handling, TLR, WHMIS and Housekeeping.

Has completed a minimum of grade 12.

Preference given to individuals with experience in long-term care or retirement residence. Written and verbal fluency in English is required. A resident-oriented individual, whose visions and values align with those of Diversicare.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides care to residents including cognitive, social and emotional support, according to their plan of care and in a manner that promotes comfort and safety.
• Performs nursing care procedures in accordance with the standards of resident care. Follows routine practices in all aspects of care and complies with infection control protocols (i.e. outbreak management).
• Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents and/or any changes to resident’s daily life, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills. Complies with all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
• Completes all required mandatory training/education.
• Assists in delivering Life Enrichment programs and activities
• Completes nursing documentation accurately and legibly. Maintains health records in compliance with legislations (i.e. Privacy Act).
• Assists in monitoring and evaluating the outcome of specific interventions regularly and offers suggestions for improvement.
• Performs other related tasks as delegated by theLicensedPractical Nurse (LPN) / Health and Wellness Manager, or General Manager.
