Job summary

A leading automotive company in Windsor is seeking a Health & Safety Professional to enhance safety compliance and improve production efficiency. The role involves implementing safety training, conducting audits, and analyzing safety metrics. The ideal candidate has a relevant Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience in a manufacturing setting. This position requires effective communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Night shifts are expected, along with flexibility for additional hours.

Qualifications

  • Minimum TWO (2) years of experience in a Manufacturing environment in the Human Resources field.
  • Strong understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA).
  • Automotive or manufacturing experience is preferred.

Job description

The Health & Safety Professional is responsible for supporting Operations (Night shift) at the Windsor Assembly Plant to implement and administer standardized processes in compliance with Federal, Provincial and Local regulations and Corporate Programs.

This position will help achieve world class status and impact corporate savings through the elimination of occupational injuries / illnesses, property damageand improvement of production efficiency as well as safeguarding the health and safety of all employees. This specific position will focus on health andsafety compliance, Stellantis Production Way (SPW) safety activities, Safety Management System (OHSAS 18001), and health and safety improvement goals.

The successful candidate will also provide support functionally for Human Resources and Labour Relations.

The Health & Safety Professional will report to the Health & Safety Lead and will be responsible for the following tasks :

  • Implement WHS training programs and training assessments to ensure required training is identified and conducted
  • Conduct regular audits of WHS processes and necessary follow-up to ensure compliance and advise plant leadership and corporate WHS staff of findings
  • Analyze injury / illness experience including ergonomics, identify / track injury correlation, determine root causes, implement corrective action andcommunicate this information to plant leadership and corporate WHS
  • Support new equipment programs at the concept stage to ensure that WHS design specifications and regulations are included
  • Manage routine safety reports including data acquisition, documentation, record keeping, monitoring, review, and approval
  • Coordinate communication of WHS regulatory inspection activity with plant leadership
Lead WHS projects to improve WHS key performance metrics
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the plant’s safety management system to meet OHSAS 18001 and SPW safety requirements
  • Support labour relations and human resources functions as required

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Human Resources, Kinesiology, Science or related Health & Safety field
  • Strong understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA)
  • Minimum TWO (2) years of experience in a Manufacturing environment in the Human Resources field, with a concentration in Wellness, Health &Safety
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Automotive or manufacturing experience
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Work schedule is off shift - Night shift
  • Willingness to work on any shift and additional hours as required including weekend production shifts
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
  • Safety related professional certifications (e.g. CSP, CIH)
  • Experience conducting workplace safety and compliance audits
