Health & Safety Compliance
- Support the review, implementation, and continuous improvement of the School’s Health & Safety Policy, ensuring consistency across the campus and divisions.
- Implement workplace safety procedures in line with the Workplace Safety & Health Act, Fire Code, and ISO 45001.
- Support the fire safety manager in monitoring and following up on notices issued and non compliances identified.
- Maintain a central repository of workplace risk assessments (operations, labs, maintenance, renovations).
- Champion and manage the Permit-to-Work and other safety systems for vendors and contractors.
- Provide guidance to staff exposed to high risk activities such as chemical handling, work from height and higher risk activities.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and compliance checks to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions.
- Support investigations into workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring reporting and follow-up with MOM when required.
- Plan and support emergency drills, evacuation exercises, and fire safety compliance.
Training & Awareness
- Design and deliver workplace safety training (e.g., contractor induction, PTW, chemical handling, equipment safety).
- Provide ongoing training and refresher sessions for staff, support teams, and vendors.
- Promote a culture of workplace safety through awareness campaigns and continuous improvement programmes.
- Engage staff across divisions to strengthen collective responsibility for risk and safety management.
Vendor & Contractor Oversight
- Oversee safety compliance for contractors during summer works, renovation, and ongoing maintenance projects.
- Review and approve contractor risk assessments, method statements, and safety procedures.
- Work closely with Facilities and project managers to integrate safety planning into all works.
- Ensure contractors comply with all school safety and safeguarding requirements.
- Review and approve contractor risk assessments, method statements, and Safe Work Procedures.
- Conduct pre-start safety briefings and inductions for vendors working on campus.
- Track and enforce corrective actions for contractor non-compliance.
Risk Management
- Support the Senior Manager in developing and maintaining the Enterprise Risk Register.
- Identify hazards, recommend risk mitigation measures, and track follow-up actions.
- Contribute to the development of organisational safety and risk management systems aligned with ISO 45001 principles.
- Participate in Health & Safety Committee meetings and promote campus safety initiatives and programmes
- Conduct workplace risk reviews and propose mitigation strategies.
- Develop proactive campaigns and initiatives to improve awareness of safety issues in the campus.
- Contribute to business continuity and critical incident management planning.
Skills/Requirements
Requirements & Qualifications:
Education / Certification
- Degree or diploma in Workplace Safety & Health, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or related discipline.
- MOM-registered WSH Officer certification (preferred).
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems.
Experience
- At least 5 years’ relevant experience in workplace safety, risk management, and vendor/contractor oversight.
- Proven experience in managing Permit-to-Work systems, risk assessments, and chemical safety.
- Experience in conducting safety training and compliance audits.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of WSH Act, Fire Code, and safety management practices.
- Effective trainer with strong communication skills.
- Good IT proficiency (Google Workspace, incident reporting tools, spreadsheets).
- Collaborative and able to influence diverse groups of staff and vendors.
