Job summary

Canada's Drug Agency (CDA-AMC) in Ottawa and Toronto is seeking a Health Economics Research Officer to join the Health Economics team. You will contribute to economic models and evaluations for health interventions, while performing data analyses for cost minimization needs and critical appraisals.

The role requires a graduate degree in economics or related field with health economics training and 1–2 years of experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in economics, mathematics, or equivalent with health economics training.
• 1–2 years of health services research experience or equivalent.
• Strong analytical and data analysis skills.
• Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel).
• Excellent writing and oral communication abilities, plus interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and good project management.
• Willingness to undertake training in systematic reviews or meta-analysis as required.
• Able to work well in a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost minimization analyses and economic evaluations of moderate complexity with timely, high-quality reports.
• Complete economic report templates independently, clearly conveying methods, issues and conclusions.
• Coordinate with clinical researchers to align economic and clinical reporting.
• Seek background information as needed and consult with the Manager, Health Economics for unfamiliar concepts.
• Represent the economic team at meetings and respond to questions requiring clarification.
• Pursue ongoing professional development in health economics methodologies.
• Provide summaries and critical appraisals of relevant literature for inclusion in reports.
• Develop computer-based economic models to support evaluations and budget impact analyses.
• Perform data quality checks and validation for economic reports.
