Job summary

A healthcare organization in Manitoba is seeking a Health Care Aide to provide care for elderly residents, preferably those with dementia. The role requires a Grade 12 education and a Health Care Aide Certificate. Essential skills include the ability to prioritize workloads and adapt to changing environments. Physical demands may include lifting and transferring residents. This is an in-person position at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg with a part-time work schedule of 0.40 FTE.

Position Overview
Experience
  • Caring for the elderly and clients with dementia preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized educational institution.

Physical Requirements
  • Involves physical activities such as standing, transferring and transporting residents and equipment.
  • May encounter aggressive and/or agitated individuals.
  • May encounter exposure to disease, radiation, toxic material, noise, allergens, blood, feces, body fluids, etc.
  • Requires shift work, extended working hours.
  • Equipment used – mechanical lifts, bathing units, weight scales.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
