Job summary

Carewest is hiring a Health Care Aide (HCA) for our Complex Continuing Care unit at Garrison Green in Calgary. This temporary part-time role reports to the Director of Care and supports an interprofessional team in delivering client-centered care.

You will observe and report on client status, ensuring changes are communicated to nursing staff. The position requires Alberta HCA program completion, CLHA registration, and the ability to meet physical demands.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required, plus graduation from an Alberta Government recognized Health Care Aide program.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English is required.
• Must be physically capable of managing the frequent lifting, transferring and repositioning of clients.
• Active and current registration with CLHA required.
• Related experience in a health care facility is an asset.
• Program specific training/experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• The Health Care Aide provides ongoing client care and observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status.
• Changes in client status are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

The Opportunity

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Director of Care, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is a regulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides ongoing client care. The HCA observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status. The HCA ensures that changes in client status are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Program Summary

Complex Care – for frail seniors who require the care of an interdisciplinary team to maintain and improve quality of life in safe, comfortable and supportive environments. Carewest offers a mix of secured and unsecured units.
