Job summary

Carewest is seeking a Health Care Aide (HCA) to join the Rehabilitation and Community Transition Program (RCTP) in Calgary. The HCA provides ongoing client care, monitors status, and reports changes to the RN or LPN.

Medication delivery must be accurate and aligned with policy and Carewest standards. Reporting to the Director of Care, the HCA will support medically stable adults in a short-stay restorative setting and contribute to a patient-centered care approach within Carewest’s values of

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and Alberta Health Care Aide program completion.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Must be physically capable of frequent lifting, transferring and repositioning.
• Active and current registration with CLHA.
• Related experience in a health care facility is an asset.
• Program-specific training/experience is an asset.

The Opportunity

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Director of Care, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is a regulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides ongoing client care. The HCA observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status. The HCA ensures that changes in client status are reported to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

This position delivers prescribed medications accurately as per policy and procedure. In keeping with Carewest's Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care and Carewest policies this position maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. Responsible for other related duties as required.

Program Summary:

Rehabilitation and Community Transition Program (RCTP) – a short stay restorative care program that supports medically stable adults who do not need an acute-care level of service, but may require additional assessment, recuperation, and therapy before returning to the community.

Qualifications and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required, plus graduation from an Alberta Government recognized Health Care Aide program.

• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English is required.

• Must be physically capable of managing the frequent lifting, transferring and repositioning of clients.

• Active and current registration with CLHA required.

• Related experience in a health care facility is an asset.

• Program specific training/experience is an asset.
