Alberta Health Services in Tofield is hiring a Rural Health Care Aide (HCA) to support residents in a Long-Term Care setting. You will assist with daily living, mobility, nutrition, recreation, and emotional support as part of an interdisciplinary team.
The role offers orientation and ongoing professional development, requires HCA certification, and includes a 0.76 FTE schedule with days and evenings shifts at the Tofield Health Centre.
As a Rural Continuing Care Health Care Aide (HCA), you will be a valued member of an interdisciplinary team providing person-centered care to residents in a Long-Term Care (LTC) environment. You will support residents with activities of daily living, promote comfort, dignity, and independence, and contribute to creating a safe and welcoming home-like environment.Working closely with Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and other care team members, you will assist with personal care, mobility, nutrition, recreation, and emotional support while fostering meaningful relationships with residents and their families. As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals.PLEASE NOTE: Until a new hire provides proof of HCA certification, they will be paid at the uncertified pay grade in accordance with the AUPE AUX Collective Agreement.
Active or eligible for registration or practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide, along with proof of education or completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire.
Completion of a recognized Health Care Aide (HCA) certificate program and registration with the Alberta HCA Directory. Reliable transportation and flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays, as required.
Experience working in a Continuing Care, Long-Term Care (LTC), Supportive Living, or Home Care setting.Experience supporting older adults with complex physical, cognitive, and behavioral care needs, including dementia care.
