What Is the Opportunity?

Aecon Foundations is a leader in the Canadian Foundations industry. From shoring systems to foundation piling of all types; Aecon Foundations brings the Aecon advantage to all of our market sectors and acts as a strong partner from project initiation, design development, field testing and execution. The Safety Advisor will be responsible to actively promote a health, safety and environmental culture to all levels of employees with the policies and procedures of Aecon’s Health, Safety and Environmental Manual. This role will support our Aecon Foundations division located in Toronto, Ontario.

What You'll Do Here:
  • Conduct safety orientation to workers, owners and clients.
  • Train employees on Aecon Health, Safety and Environmental Manual.
  • Train or coordinate training for employees (e.g., fall protection, confined space entry, WHMIS, respiratory protection, emergency response).
  • Conduct workplace inspections, behavior‑based observations and audits.
  • Update Material Safety Data Sheets as required.
  • Develop worksite safety plans – such as emergency plans, environmental or site safety plans.
  • Distribution of safety material, supplies and equipment.
  • Safety presentations to clients.
  • Promoting the Aecon safety system to potential industry clients.
  • Conduct studies and analyze EHS data trends.
  • Recommend & monitor corrective actions.
  • Assist with workers’ compensation claims.
  • Develop return to work and modified work programs.
  • Incident investigations.
  • Mediate health and safety issues for resolution.
  • Liaise with Government agencies as required.
  • Prepare and assist with external safety audits.
  • Coordination of environmental issues.
  • Gather and provide EHS based statistics.
What You Bring to the Team:
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience in the construction industry in a Health and Safety role.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST), National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) and / or Certificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent meeting and training facilitation.
  • Adaptable and flexible to an ever‑changing environment.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Mobility is essential, able to work on various project locations across Canada which are often remote.

Salary – $80,000 - $100,000 per annum
