The Head of Tax and Estate Planning will be a key member of the distribution leadership team, responsible for equipping financial advisors with advanced tax and estate planning strategies they need to deepen client relationships, retain assets, and attract new business. This role bridges technical expertise with advisor engagement overseeing and managing all aspects of tax and estate planning services for our clients. This role requires a deep understanding of tax laws, estate planning strategies, and financial planning principles.

What you’ll accomplish with us

As a Head of Tax and Estate Planning, you’ll be at the core of our mission. Here are the main responsibilities:

Advisor Engagement and Business Development
  • Partner with our affiliate advisors to uncover opportunities for tax-efficient investing, estate planning, and wealth transfer to help drive business growth.
  • Provide case consultation with affiliates working with high-net-worth families, business owners and retirees.
  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations positioning the firm as a trusted thought leader in wealth planning.
Education and Enablement
  • Develop advisor-friendly tools, that simplify complex tax and estate strategies into actionable client conversations.
  • Train sales teams and advisors on how to position our products within a broader planning framework (retirement income, charitable giving, business succession, trusts etc).
Thought Leadership
  • Translate evolving tax legislation and estate trends into advisor focused insights.
  • Collaborate with marketing to create white papers, client brochures, and digital content.
  • Represent iA Clarington as an industry expert to enhance brand credibility.
Collaboration
  • Work closely with portfolio managers, wholesalers, and product teams to align tax and estate planning narratives with investment solutions.
  • Partner with distribution leadership to design campaigns.

We’re looking for someone who has:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFP, JD) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in tax and estate planning, with a proven track record of success in a leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of tax laws, estate planning strategies, and financial planning principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Proven leadership and management abilities, with experience in training and mentoring staff.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
  • Proficiency in French is a huge asset.
  • Ability to travel across Canada.
