Job description

Recruiting and Marketing Specialist @ Brooks & Nelson | Mining Industry

Brooks & Nelson’s client is seeking a Head of Mining.

About the Role

To accelerate commercialization and scale operations, join the executive team and report directly to the CEO. This leader will drive the company’s transition from pilot demonstrations to full commercial deployment at mine sites. Drawing on deep experience in mineral processing, operational execution, and strategic partnerships, the Head of Mining will engage senior industry leaders, convert pilot successes into revenue-generating projects, and guide ongoing R&D iterations that enhance product performance and client value.

Responsibilities
Leadership and Governance
  • Provide clear, data-driven updates to the CEO and executive team, translating technical results into actionable commercial and operational decisions.
  • Establish governance processes for pilot validation, technology readiness assessments, and full-scale deployment milestones.
  • Shape long-term technology strategy — linking R&D advancements, engineering integration, and commercial priorities — to ensure disciplined, accountable execution across mining operations.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing technical, operational, and R&D organization, fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Operations, Execution, and R&D Iteration
  • Lead end-to-end execution of pilot projects, demonstrations, and commercial deployments, ensuring alignment between engineering design, site operations, and customer requirements.
  • Oversee daily operations for the Mining Division, including project development, logistics, engineering support, workforce planning, and coordination with corporate shared services.
  • Manage and prioritize R&D initiatives, ensuring rapid iteration of the technology based on test results, client feedback, operational bottlenecks, and commercialization timelines.
  • Establish best practices, operational playbooks, and repeatable processes that streamline scale-up and improve profitability.
  • Maintain strict safety compliance, operational controls, and risk-mitigation strategies across all project phases.
  • Develop and manage the Mining Division budget, ensuring disciplined allocation of resources aligned with commercial objectives.
Commercialization and Strategic Partnerships
  • Lead commercialization efforts from testing through full-scale operations, articulating a compelling value proposition to clients, partners, investors, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Structure, negotiate, and execute commercial agreements — including partnerships, joint ventures, and technology licensing — ensuring strong economic outcomes for pH7.
  • Build and expand strategic relationships with senior mining executives, engineering firms, metallurgical experts, and technology partners to drive market penetration and long-term adoption.
  • Represent the company in the market through conferences, industry events, and thought leadership initiatives, elevating the company’s profile and shaping its commercialization roadmap.

  • Over 15 years of experience leading technical, operational, and commercial functions within mining, mineral processing, or related technology environments.
  • Demonstrated success taking proprietary technologies from pilot or demonstration stages through commercial deployment at mine sites.
  • Experience leading R&D or technical teams, with a strong understanding of iterative product improvement and technology scale-up.
  • Proven commercial acumen, including negotiation of partnerships, commercial contracts, or licensing agreements.
  • Strong industry network with senior mining executives and engineering leaders.
  • Track record of scaling operations, improving performance, and delivering measurable commercial outcomes.
  • Experience managing division-level budgets and ensuring financial accountability.
  • Hands-on, execution-oriented leadership style suited to a fast-moving, scale-up environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-influencing skills.
