Job summary

The University of Alberta is seeking a senior on-deck supervisor for North Campus in Edmonton. You will oversee real-time lifeguard safety and mentor the lifeguarding and instructional team, ensuring top-tier surveillance, client service, and curriculum delivery in line with provincial legislation and university risk frameworks.

The role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends. This is a 1-year plus 1 day term with in-person duties at North Campus.

Qualifications

• Senior lifeguard or supervisory experience preferred.

• Senior on-deck supervisor responsible for real-time safety.
• Mentor lifeguards and instructional team; ensure surveillance, client service and curriculum delivery.
• Ensure compliance with provincial legislation and university risk frameworks.
• Assist in training casual staff and maintaining safety standards.

Job description

Location -This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.

Reporting to the Coordinator, Aquatic Facility and Programs, this position is an integral member of the Campus & Community Recreation Team. Campus & Community Recreation supports the management of sport and recreation facilities, programs, services and events serving a variety of communities including University of Alberta students, staff, faculty, and general community members.

This position will act as the senior on-deck supervisor responsible for the real-time safety as well as mentorship of the lifeguarding and instructional team. This role will assists in training and in ensuring that all casual lifeguards and instructors maintain an exceptional standard of surveillance, client service, and curriculum delivery in absolute compliance with provincial legislation and university risk frameworks.

This position requires the ability to work variable hours including evenings and weekends as required.
