About the Role

Discovery Community College is seeking a dedicated and experienced HCA Instructor to teach Clinical (Clinical Site in Surrey Region). This position offers an opportunity to mentor and shape the next generation of nursing professionals through engaging and comprehensive instruction.

This part-time role offers 40 hours per week and has the potential to lead to future instructional opportunities, advancing your career in education.

Key Information

Start date: Thursday, November 20, 2025
End date: Friday, January 16, 2026
Rate Range: $33.00-$35.00 / hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday (6:15am to 2:45pm)

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in clinical settings.
  • Execute lesson plans using preset curriculum that aligns with PTIRU compliance (extensive in-house curriculum orientation and training provided).
  • Provide hands‑on training and supervision in clinical environments.
  • Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
  • Stay current with best practices and developments in nursing education.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2,800 hours of nursing experience, inclusive of either maternity, mental health, or acute care.
  • Current full registration with the BCCNM as an LPN, RN, or RDPN – required.
  • Previous instructor experience is an asset.
  • Experience with Office 365 and Student Information Systems (SIS) is an asset.
  • Strong communication and mentorship skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning styles.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive educational experience.
  • Ability to travel to local sites within the region.
  • Experience in a long‑term care facility in Canada within the last two years, or relevant experience.
