Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Hardware Design Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in circuit design, PCB development, and embedded systems, with hands‑on experience in prototyping, testing, and compliance. This role involves end‑to‑end hardware development from initial design through to validation and integration with a focus on ruggedized outdoor and trailer‑mounted electronic devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and analyze high‑performance electronic circuits ensuring optimal reliability and performance.
  • Develop cost‑effective and manufacturable printed circuit board (PCB) layouts, including high‑speed digital and mixed‑signal designs.
  • Architect and design C++ embedded systems for integration into larger hardware solutions.
  • Build, debug, and test prototypes. Perform troubleshooting and implement design improvements based on test results.
  • Work closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless product integration and development.
  • Ensure hardware designs meet relevant industry standards and certifications. Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for designs, test procedures, and compliance.
  • Conduct electrical tests on rugged outdoor and trailer‑mounted devices, including high‑speed digital, analog, and battery/power circuits.
  • Measure and analyze power consumption and battery charging/discharging behavior under various environmental conditions.
  • Investigate test failures, perform root cause analyses, and drive hardware design modifications to resolve issues.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in hardware design, PCB layout, and embedded systems.
  • Strong understanding of analog, digital, and mixed‑signal circuit design.
  • Proficient in using EDA tools (e.g., Altium Designer, KiCAD, or similar).
  • Experience with lab tools: oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, etc.
  • Familiarity with AC/DC, high‑low power design, and battery‑operated systems.
  • Experience with rugged or industrial device design is a plus.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with EMC/EMI testing and compliance.
  • Knowledge of power management and thermal considerations.
  • Familiarity with wireless communication protocols (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi, Zigbee).
  • Exposure to firmware development or hardware‑software integration.
