Job summary

Smartrend Manufacturing Group is seeking a hands-on Current Product Design Specialist to keep existing products performing well and to drive improvements. You’ll collaborate with Manufacturing and technical teams to resolve issues, enhance manufacturability, and cost efficiency, while developing new variants.

You will analyze warranty data, coordinate deviations and updates, and drive corrective actions with Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Hands-on approach to technical problem solving and curiosity about how products work.
• Strong troubleshooting skills to investigate problems and develop practical solutions.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to organize technical issues and documentation.
• Strong communication and collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality teams.
• Experience interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.

Responsibilities

• Expand current product offering by developing new variants of existing product.
• Troubleshoot current-product issues affecting production, providing hands-on technical support to Manufacturing.
• Investigate product issues and partner with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to identify root causes and practical solutions.
• Coordinate product and manufacturing deviations and updates, ensuring requirements, approvals, and documentation are completed.
• Analyze field and warranty trends to identify recurring product concerns and corrective actions.
• Support testing and validation of product changes and coordinate updates to drawings, BOMs, and related documentation.
• Track product issues through resolution and coordinate actions with the right teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve product reliability, manufacturability, quality and performance.
• Research and implement cost-saving design measures on current products.
