Job description

Resound School of Music is hiring guitar teachers for in-home music lessons in Surrey, BC. We are seeking passionate instructors with exceptional communication skills and the ability to work well with students of all ages and backgrounds!

Responsibilities

Guitar teachers at Resound are responsible for teaching private guitar lessons to students in the comfort of their homes. Lessons vary from 30 to 60 minutes in length, and will cover a wide range of topics, including proper strumming and picking techniques, learning to play chords, rhythm and melodic playing, and improvising, among others.

Teachers are responsible for commuting by car to their student's homes to teach the lessons as scheduled. They are expected to prepare lesson plans for each student based on their unique goals and interests in order to keep them motivated to continue learning to play the guitar.

Qualifications

• A high level of proficiency on the guitar - acoustic and electric
• Versatile in a variety of different styles, including pop, rock, blues, jazz, and classical
• Ability to teach other stringed instruments an asset - bass, ukulele, mandolin, etc.
• Must have a valid BC driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to travel to their lessons
• No criminal background. All teachers will be subject to an RCMP criminal background check prior to being hired

Education

• High school diploma is required for this position
• Post-secondary education or equivalent is preferred

Compensation

Our starting rate ranges from $42.00-$47.00 per hour (plus an additional $5.00-$10.00 travel bonus for in-home lessons). Hourly rate is determined based on education level, teaching experience, duration with the company, and job performance.
