Reports to: Health and Wellness Manager

Location: 291 Main St., Brighton

Status: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary/Wage: $21.00/hour + $0.50 cent premium

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours/week

Reporting to the Health and Wellness Manager, the Guest Attendant is responsible for providing a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment for residents, families, and visitors within Brighton Retirement Living. This role focuses on hospitality, customer service, and safety, ensuring residents feel respected, comfortable, and well cared for while maintaining the community’s standards of service and professionalism.

Duties and Responsibilities
Resident and Guest Services
  • Greet residents, visitors, and prospective guests in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Assist with personal care which includes bathing and dressing assistance.
  • Assist residents with daily non‑medical needs and requests.
  • Respond promptly to guest inquiries, concerns, and service requests.
Hospitality and Community Support
  • Escort residents to/from the dining room, support residents through dining service as required, serve meals and tidy dining room alongside dietary staff.
  • Escort residents to/from lifestyle activities, encouraging them to join and participate.
  • Lead lifestyle programs on the assisted living floor as scheduled and supported by the Lifestyles Manager.
  • Maintain common areas to ensure cleanliness, comfort, and safety.
  • Complete daily tidy of resident’s suites which includes (but is not limited to) bedmaking, garbage collection, removal of soiled dishes, infection control practices, etc.
  • Light housekeeping is required as scheduled in job routines.
  • Laundry tasks for resident’s personal items are assigned in job routines.
  • Promote a positive and respectful community atmosphere.
Safety and Security
  • Monitor entrances and common areas to ensure resident safety.
  • Report incidents, maintenance issues, or safety concerns promptly.
  • Follow emergency procedures and community policies.
  • Works in a safe manner and ensures department operations are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, associated regulations, Legacy Living policies, procedures, and other associated legislation.
Administrative and Communication Duties
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Document daily tasks, concerns or observations related to resident wellbeing in a timely manner using platform as provided, e.g., Point of Care – PCC.
  • Review documentation from last worked shift to ensure awareness of any resident or departmental changes.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and education sessions.
  • Read and sign any meeting minutes that were missed due to not being mandatory or inability to attend.

Qualifications
Education
  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
  • Personal Support Worker (PSW) certification is preferred.
License, Registration, Training and Clearances
  • Valid and unrestricted Class “G” driver’s licence with access to reliable transportation.
  • Police Record Check (per RHA), including Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Immunization(s) and tuberculosis (TB) testing, per Brighton Retirement Living’s policy.
Experience
  • One (1) to two (2) years of work experience in healthcare and/or hospitality.
  • Previous work experience in a retirement or long‑term care environment is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated understanding of and empathy for the needs of seniors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of the health and wellness process.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, staff and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.

A combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
