Job description
Position Overview

The City of Saint John’s Growth Manager will play a leadership role in developing, executing and evaluating all the City’s growth‑related efforts. With support from the Chief Administrative Officer and the Growth and Community Development Services Team, the role will lead the integration of a growth culture across municipal service areas and act as the key contact with external growth agencies, partners, and facilities.

Key Result Areas
  • Provide strategic policy advice on a variety of growth matters, including operating budgets, capital budgets, corporate priorities, annual work plans, and program development.
  • Champion strategic planning within the division, department, municipal government, and the community, to advance a culture of growth.
  • Work in partnership with Envision Saint John and the Saint John Industrial Parks to coordinate economic interests and evaluate City investments.
  • Oversee the City’s responsibilities for the Regional Immigration Strategy and other growth programming.
  • Promote Saint John as an exceptional community to live, work, study, invest and raise a family.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Essential Qualifications: Degree in business administration, planning, community development, recreation, public administration, or related field, preferably at a graduate level.
  • Minimum five years of relevant work experience in project planning, stakeholder relations, policy development, and partnership development.
  • Familiarity with local government, the Saint John economy, and regional/provincial economic and demographic trends.
  • Experience leading initiatives in partnership with various perspectives and cultures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Variable hours, including evenings and weekends, and may require travel within the region, across the province, in Canada and internationally.
Additional Information

Position involves variable hours and may include a Flexible Time Options Program allowing a 4 or 5‑day work week.
