Job summary

The City of Barrie is seeking casual part-time Group Fitness Instructors to lead and deliver fitness classes at multiple community centres in Barrie. Instructors will teach Zumba, Pilates and Yoga, ensuring safety and enjoyment for participants across all ages.

Under supervision, you will organize programs, operate spaces and support community recreation initiatives with flexible weekday/evening/weekend hours and a wage range aligned to 2025 pay bands.

Qualifications

  • Valid Fitness and/or Personal Training Certification and completion of accredited fitness courses.
  • HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development Certificate within 3 months of hire where applicable.
  • Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, and AED certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate group fitness classes such as Zumba, Pilates and Yoga.
  • Ensure safety, well-being and enjoyment of participants during classes.
  • Instruct programs with minimal supervision and maintain facility spaces.
  • Adapt offerings to meet community recreation needs and schedules.

Key responsibilities include identifying community recreation needs and interests, developing and delivering recreation opportunities which meet these needs and interests, maintaining and operating recreational and cultural facilities to provide a setting for these activities, and managing the provision of space to external community providers and groups.Under the general guidance and direction of the Recreation Active Living Programmer, and reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, the Group Fitness Instructor (PT) position is responsible for the organization and delivery of fitness classes. Specifically, this position leads and facilitaes various fitness classes such as Zumba, Pilates and Yoga while ensuring the safety, well being and enjoyment of participants.
