Job summary

Sobeys Inc. in Canada is seeking a dedicated Grocery Clerk to perform a full range of duties with professionalism, accuracy and timeliness. The role emphasizes exceptional customer service, engagement with customers and teammates, and readiness to start at 4am.

The position focuses on following Food Safety protocols, stocking and merchandising, assisting shoppers, promoting products, maintaining clean work areas, and supporting team training as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail or grocery operations is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work early morning shifts and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Food Safety Protocols and SOPs.
• Order, receive and merchandise stock per inventory procedures.
• Provide superior customer service to meet customer needs.
• Promote featured products to increase store sales.
• Maintain back shop and retail floor cleanliness and organization.
• Prepare customer orders as required.
• Process department shrink as required.
• Assist in training junior staff.
• Perform other duties as required.

As a Grocery Clerk, you will be responsible for carrying out the full range of duties of the position in a professional, responsible, accurate and timely fashion. The Clerk will deliver exceptional customer service, foster customer loyalty, fulfill customer needs, and actively contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement. Candidate must be able to start at 4am.

Here’s Where You’ll Be Focusing

• Adhere to all Food Safety Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, Health and Safety, corporate policies, and other programs and initiatives
• Order, receive, and merchandise stock in accordance with company inventory control procedures, as required
• Provide superior customer service to meet customer needs
• Increase store sales by actively promoting featured products
• Perform back shop and retail floor maintenance, keeping work area clean and presentable as per Company requirements
• Prep Customer orders, as required
• Process department shrink, as required
• Participate in the training of junior staff
• Other duties as required
