Job summary

Sobeys is seeking a Grocery Clerk at an independently owned Sobeys banner location in Canada. The role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, accurate merchandising, and adherence to food safety standards, with emphasis on engagement and efficiency.

You will stock, price, and present products; assist customers, fulfill orders, and support training of junior staff, while maintaining a clean, safe, and fast-paced work environment.

• Above-average communication skills (oral and written).
• May be required to lift up to 20 lbs, stand for long periods, bend, lift, and reach.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to food safety protocols, SOPs, Health and Safety, and company policies.
• Order, receive, and merchandise stock per inventory control procedures.
• Provide superior customer service to meet customer needs.
• Increase store sales by promoting featured products.
• Perform back shop and retail floor maintenance, keeping the area clean and presentable.
• Prep customer orders as required.
• Process department shrink as required.
• Participate in training of junior staff.
• Other duties as required.

The Grocery Clerk is responsible for carrying out the full range of duties of the position in a professional, responsible, accurate and timely fashion. The Clerk will deliver exceptional customer service, foster customer loyalty, fulfill customer needs, and actively contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement.

• Adhere to all Food Safety Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, Health and Safety, corporate policies, and other programs and initiatives
• Order, receive, and merchandise stock in accordance with company inventory control procedures, as required
• Provide superior customer service to meet customer needs
• Increase store sales by actively promoting featured products
• Perform back shop and retail floor maintenance, keeping work area clean and presentable as per Company requirements
• Prep Customer orders, as required
• Process department shrink, as required
• Participate in the training of junior staff
• Other duties as required
