Job summary

Western Independent Greenhouses in Burnaby, BC, is hiring a seasonal greenhouse worker to support floriculture production. You will perform routine crop care, transplanting, mixing soils and fertilizer, watering, and general cleaning in outdoor, wet and hot conditions.

You must be reliable, able to stand for long periods, handle heavy loads up to 23 kg, and work with insects and pesticides as directed. No formal degree required, 7 months to <1 year experience preferred, on-site with free parking.

Qualifications

• No degree required.
• Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year preferred.
• On-site position; no remote work.

Responsibilities

• Clean the crops.
• Greenhouse cleaning.
• Mixing fertilizer.
• Seed cutting.
• Tie and secure plants.
• Weeding.
• Spray or dust plants with insecticides and fungicides.
• Mix and prepare soils.
• Pot and re-pot plants.
• Transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings.
• Report signs of insect or disease damage.
• Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens.
• Clean work area.
