Job description
Revolutionize our food system

Aera is an ag tech company on a mission to transform how the world grows and consumes food. That’s why we built Victory—the world’s first smart farming appliance that grows affordable, fresh, and sustainable produce year-round.

About the size of a fridge, our patent-pending appliance uses cutting-edge aeroponic technology, automation, and AI to deliver more yield and variety than ever thought possible in a Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) system. From root vegetables to leafy greens, Victory provides effortless daily harvests—and over 100 pounds of produce each month—with no food miles, no chemicals, and no waste.

We’re reimagining a world with a farming appliance in every kitchen—not just as a vision, but as a practical path to restoring resilience in how we grow and consume what we eat.

About the role

As our Junior Automations Engineer, you’ll help take Victory from customer beta to commercialization. This hands‑on, interdisciplinary role spans electrical, embedded, and software systems—and is an opportunity to be at the forefront of a globally reimagined food system.

  • Build, test, and launch prototypes, embedded systems, and subsystems
  • Design schematics and custom PCBs involving sensors, controls, wiring, and debugging
  • Write firmware, MQTT software protocols, and support OTA and provisioning development
  • Document design changes, test results, and performance data
  • Support new feature development driven by customer feedback
  • Collaborate on solutions to maximize yield, sustainability, simplicity, and cost-efficiency
About you

You want a career with purpose and the opportunity of a high‑growth startup. And you want to work for a company that believes you can do both.

  • Have completed (within the past two years) a B.Eng or equivalent program focused on Computer/Software Engineering at a recognized NL institution
  • Have experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, sensors, and automation
  • Have experience with Python or JavaScript/TypeScript and have used Node.js or backend frameworks
  • Enjoy working independently but thrive in collaborative teams
  • Have a growth mindset with curiosity and resilience to break through innovation challenges
  • Are driven to solve hard problems through incremental, results‑driven impact
  • Bonus: familiarity with CEA systems or iOT/embedded products
Why Aera?

Aera is an early‑stage startup with bold ambitions, and we’re writing the playbook together. You’ll work alongside a small but high‑impact founding team to build a best‑in‑class, high‑growth company that redefines how and where food is grown—rooted in a culture of innovation, resilience, and impact.

  • Drive measurable impact for our customers and the environment
  • Invest in our people’s growth and leadership
  • Encourage you to lead with conviction (not permission)
  • Center honesty, kindness, and integrity
  • Belief that people and planet matter just as much as profit
