Job summary

St Barbara Limited seeks a Graduate Exploration Geologist to support exploration efforts in Nova Scotia, based out of the Dartmouth office. The role involves field time during the season, with reporting to the Exploration Superintendent and participation in exploration targets across Nova Scotia.

The successful candidate will hold a B.S. in Geology, be eligible for GIT registration, and be prepared for extensive field work, safety procedures, and data compilation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Geology or related field.

Graduate Exploration Geologist

We are currently seeking Graduate Exploration Geologiststo support our ongoing exploration efforts in Nova Scotia. The roles are based out of St Barbara’s Dartmouth office and will report to the Exploration Superintendent. Graduate Exploration Geologists will spend significant amounts of time in the field during the field season to support the planned exploration activities on the many exploration targets and resources under development by St Barbara Atlantic throughout Nova Scotia.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Including but Not Limited To:

• Carrying out exploration under the direction of senior team members
• Undertaking rock chipping and soil sampling programs
• Logging and sampling of drill core or RC chips
• Sorting and collating historical pulp samples
• Always ensuring a safe working environment
• Research and data compilation
• Completing other geological activities as assigned

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Geology or a related field of studies
• Eligible to register as a GIT
• Willingness to adhere to St Barbara safety procedures
• Computer literacy, particularly MS Office Suite products
• Strong communication skills
• Current unencumbered Class 5 Driver’s Licence
• Own transportation to/from St Barbara’s Bedford office
• Competent with outdoor field work which includes being proficient on the use and operation of a GPS and compass and being able to hike long distances while carrying heavy packs

Working Conditions:

• Physically demanding – 8 to 12-hour days hiking through the woods in variable weather conditions
• 40 hour working week
• Must be available to undertake regional field work which will require overnight stays away from Halifax
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment
