Graduate Electrical Engineer – Data Centre Operations
Markham, Ontario
Full-Time, on-site at Markham. On-call & after office hours as required
Pathway Communications is seeking recent graduates in Electrical Engineering who have hands-on exposure or internship experience in data centre operations. This role is ideal for motivated individuals passionate about power systems, critical infrastructure, and data centre reliability. You’ll be part of a dynamic engineering and operations team supporting high-availability environments.
Support the maintenance, monitoring, and operation of electrical and power distribution systems within data centres.
Assist in troubleshooting power and infrastructure issues (UPS, PDUs, switchgear, generators).
Participate in routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and load testing activities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure operational uptime and safety compliance.
Assist in documenting and analyzing equipment performance, load capacity, and incident reports.
Contribute to energy efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (recent graduate or final-year student).
Prior co-op, internship, or full time / part-time experience in data centre operations or facilities engineering.
Strong understanding of electrical systems, circuit analysis, and safety protocols.
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work in a 24x7 environment as required for critical support.
Knowledge of HVAC, fire suppression, and monitoring systems is an asset.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools.
Exposure to ISO 27001 / 9001 environments or similar quality frameworks.
Understanding of power redundancy and failover systems.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication.
Teamwork: Ability to work across functions and locations.
Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and escalation judgment.
Attention to Detail: Precision in documentation and records.
Proactivity: Ability to anticipate issues and suggest improvements.
Resilience: Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
