Job summary

The Department of Food Science at the University of Manitoba invites applications for a Grader/Marker for BIOE 3900 A01 CUPE 3909 Unit 1. This on-campus position runs from September 9, 2026 to December 22, 2026, with a 6-hour weekly schedule (totaling 90 hours).

The role pays $17.54 per hour plus vacation pay. Responsibilities include grading, providing written feedback, and meeting with the course supervisor to align on marking guidelines; a strong command of English and an empathetic approach

Qualifications

  • Completion of academic studies which have resulted in an expertise specifically appropriate to grading or marking the material assigned.
  • An empathetic approach to the instructional needs and concerns of students.
  • Effective skills in the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Meets with the employment supervisor responsible for the course(s), for orientation and guidelines for grading and marking assignments and for providing written feedback to the students.
  • Grades and marks work submitted by students from tests, exams or projects.
  • Provides written feedback to the students on the quality of material presented for grading or marking.
  • May be required to maintain regularly scheduled and posted times for providing consultation to students on test, exam or project results.
  • May be required to assist in the production of tests, exams or projects under the supervision of the person responsible for the laboratory or class.

Course: Biosystems Engineering Design 2 BIOE 3900 A01

Start date: September 9, 2026

End date: December 22, 2026

Work schedule: 6 hours per week

Expected total hours: 90 hours

Hourly rate: $17.54 per hour plus vacation pay

Successful completion of BIOE 3900, or familiarity with course content, preferred.

If you are an international student you must have a valid study permit which states that you are allowed to work on campus and you must be enrolled as a full-time University of Manitoba student for the duration of any appointment.
