The GIS technician is responsible for validating, cleaning and updating datasets used in product profiles and cross reference lists. This role is also responsible for creating GIS style map products and reports using various map creation and reporting tools for all business units.

Please note we are only considering candidates who are eligible to work in Canada and are currently located in the Greater Toronto Area.

Please note this is a 6 month contract role.

WHAT’S THE DAY TO DAY LIKE?

  • Validate, correct and update various data sets used in the creation of profiles and configuration files used to update Pelmorex systems
  • Setup localized cable hardware configurations and product profiles and help troubleshoot any issues
  • Generate reports on various data sets used by the department
  • Assist the GIS team create and update meta data
  • Help test profile creation models and validate outputs from models
  • Setup and update web map tagging profilesGather, analyze and integrate spatial data and determine how best the information can be displayed
  • Document and test all processes and applications related to the creation of product profiles
  • Test new software releases and service packs before they go into operationIdentify possible impact of data changes and report to management

WE ARE HOPING YOU HAVE..

  • A diploma or degree in Geography, Engineering, or other related discipline or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of one year experience in geographical organization of data and content
  • Excellent knowledge of GIS software including ESRI ArcGIS
  • High attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of spatial data structures and SQLExcellent knowledge of Canadian geography
  • Experience scripting using Perl, JScript or Python is an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of MS OfficeWell developed research skills
  • Bilingualism (French) is also an asset
