GIS Applications Specialist, Quebec – Esri Canada (English)

GIS Applications Specialist, Quebec – Esri Canada has an exceptional opportunity for a GIS Applications Specialist to join our Professional Services Department. This role will be remote based in the province of Quebec.

A Day in the Life of a GIS Applications Specialist at Esri Canada
  • Meet with customers to identify business objectives and/or problems that can be solved with a GIS based solution.
  • Design creative GIS solutions focused on off the shelf Esri technology
  • Install, configure and upgrade Esri technology including desktop, geodatabase, server, mobile and web applications
  • Assist with migration strategies for version upgrades of Esri technology
  • Coordinate and validate technical response and estimation for proposal submissions.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for process and process improvement
  • Act as a technical mentor and advisor to junior resources
  • Work with clients to assist them during the implementation process of software
  • Provide database design expertise, application support and prototype development
  • Contributing to needs analysis, functional requirements definition, and business solution needs as outlined by a customer.
  • Provide demonstrations of Esri technology to prospective and existing customers
  • Proactively pursue self-instruction on all relevant technical topics.
General Responsibilities
  • Participate collaboratively in the company Employee Development Program.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external personnel at all levels representing the company in a professional manner at all times.
  • Actively participate in company, staff or individual one-on-one meetings on an ongoing basis for the purposes of effective teamwork, enhanced communication and progressive cooperation strategies within the company as well as other departments across the company.

  • Conduct any general duties, specific job projects and responsibilities as assigned or required by the Director or Esri Canada management in a timely and professional manner.
Minimum Education Requirement
  • University degree in computer science, engineering, math, GIS or equivalent education and experience
Minimum Experience and Training Requirement
  • 5+ years’ experience in designing GIS based systems
  • Deployment and configuration of ArcGIS Enterprise, including geodatabase management, web services integration, security protocols, and web adaptor setup
  • Proven experience in content management on ArcGIS Online, and an understanding of group and user management.
  • Demonstrable skills developing documentation for system installation, configuration and maintenance
  • Knowledge of Python scripting
  • Working knowledge of relational databases
  • Experience analyzing and documenting user needs requirements
